The town has a rich heritage and is also recognised as a Dark Sky location, so a wonderful place to admire the stars. Moffat boasts an array of local quirky shops, a monthly farmer’s market, friendly pubs and numerous eateries. There is an interesting museum, an 18-hole golf course and a beautiful park with a boating lake, putting green and interactive water feature Moffatasia. Explore the huge selection of local walking and bike trails with breathtaking views. Enjoy a trip to Grey Mare’s Tail Nature Reserve; one of the UK’s highest waterfalls plunging 60 metres, leading to Loch Skeen, St Mary’s Loch and the Devil’s Beef Tub, all within 17 miles.
Drive down the private road and through the glorious grounds of the country Mansion, you will find our bespoke handcrafted double shepherd’s hut, nestling in between the trees just in front of the Evan Water. The Shepherd’s Hut is named after the first owner of the Mansion -Thomas George Bishop of Beattock. Climb the three steps up and make your way into the smart and stylish accommodation. There is an open-plan lounge/kitchen area, where you can enjoy cooking in the well-equipped kitchen and dine at the spacious glass-topped table. Relax in the lounge where you can enjoy a movie on the TV, or sit back with a local dram or locally crafted beer. There are two bedrooms to choose from; a double and a twin which has amazing views of the pond or the Evan Water. Both bedrooms share a bright shower room.
Outside there is a slabbed patio area that has a roomy picnic bench and patio furniture. Relax under the stars in the bubbling hot tub with beautiful views.
